Fish&BreadPrayerParty was born in 2010 November 19th on a Thursday at 7pm at the home of Larry Vaughn. Larry and a friend went out to Pray for a lady that was contemplating suicide because her husband left her after seventeen years of marriage. To add insult to injury her husband was trying to take her deceased mother’s home from her. After we met with her and Prayed for her, she thanked us and said if GOD sent two men to Pray for me and l was through with men, she said, I want to live.

 

Larry said to his friend lets have a Prayer Party in that lady’s name to celebrate her life. Larry, some friends and a few family members thought that the Prayer Party was going to be a one time thing, but GOD had other plans for Larry, and that was to have a Ministry. In the beginning we were calling the Ministry, Fish&BreadPrayerParty. Our first night we had 18 people to show up, the second week  we had 41 people, the third week we had 55 people at Larry’s home. The Ministry had outgrown Larry’s home, he had to move to a larger space to accommodate the people.

 

Larry felt he needed some help running the Ministry, so he began to Pray for a Wife. The word says in Proverbs 18:22 “Whoso findeth a Wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.” So Larry continued to pray for a wife and GOD sent him a GOD fearing, beautiful, intelligent Wife, Ms. Jacqueline S. Mitchell, now Mrs. Jacqueline S. Vaughn. She understood Larry's vision, she enjoys helping people and has worked for a non-profit community center for 18 years. In 2013 Larry and his Wife Jacqueline started transitioning the Ministry. They changed the Ministry's name to Fish&BreadPrayerMinistryInc, a Homeless support service Ministry with the primary focus to help meet the basic needs of the Homeless, the Elderly, people coming out of prison and those who have fallen on hard times.

 

On Thursday, April 11, 2013  the Prayer Party was transitioned to Fish&BreadPrayerMinistryInc, a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit. Fish&BreadPrayerMinistryInc, places an emphasis on Self-awareness, Self-esteem, Self-respect, Personal Responsibility, Integrity and Saving Souls. We believe that it is a privilege and a responsibility given to us, to intercede to help those less fortunate and to make a difference in the lives of others."

Every Thursday, along with the help of numerous Volunteers from the Houston area like Greater Law Memorial Church of GOD, Lakewood Church, Island Of Hope Church of GOD In CHRIST and many others. We fed the Mind, Body and Soul of the Homeless and many other people in attendance. We provided hot meals, clothing; hygiene items and social outreach services such as referrals for Shelter, Health Needs; Gold Card, Social Security Card, Driver’s License/ID Job Application Preparation, Job Search and Placement Assistance, Resume Preparation, GED preparation and Spiritual Guidance.
